Research paper significantly affects the student’s grade. It not only displays the ability to correctly form thoughts, but also allows you to acquire critical thinking skills, research experience, and solid theoretical knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to approach its writing thoroughly.
It is well known that the research paper consists of three parts: introduction, main part and conclusion. In this article we try to figure out how to start a research paper.
How to start a research paper?
If vague abstract phrases in the introduction are not welcome, and the knowledge of “flashing” will be obtained only after conducting a thorough research of the problem, what should we write about in the introduction, and most importantly, how? Here are some tips to help you answer how to start a research paper:
First of all, consult with the teacher or carefully read his instructions on the research paper. Surely he indicated the estimated volumes of each part, advised what it was worth writing about and what he would like to see. Each teacher has a unique approach and requirements.
Do a thorough training. In order to make a plan for the upcoming work, to understand what sources you need to read, what methods to use, what problems to study in more detail, you will have to prepare: read at least some good articles.
Specify in advance the requirements for the style of presentation of the work. Some teachers offer students to write in a scientific and journalistic style, but, as a rule, the standard is the scientific style, so learn its features, rules, terminology, requirements. Ask the teacher for a sample introduction of paper, which he rated very well to get a feel for the presentation of information.
A few points should be in the introduction necessarily:
- object of study;
- methodological base.
Study more than one good example of introducing a research paper, especially if you are a beginner. This will help gain experience.
At the end of the work, make changes to the introduction so that the goals and objectives set are implemented in the course of the study and meet its results.
The introduction, especially its first sentences, is that part of the work that the teacher will read exactly, so that it is here that you need to make a good impression. Do not set yourself the task of compiling facts from textbooks – conduct a real research, study problems, try to contribute to solving them, come up with interesting ideas, and also write about these goals in the introductory section.
